The iPerFedPat system, which will be the main result of the project, will have a pluggable architecture, ideally external search tools providers will be able to add their tools via a web interface, providing core services and operations being able to integrate multiple patent data sources and patent related data streams, thus providing multiple patent search tools and UIs while hiding complexity from the end user. At the core of the system’s architecture lies the idea of Personalised Federated Search. In iPerFedPat federated search is used as a method for retrieving information from distributed data sets into user’s workbench, possibly operate and/or integrate, and finally deliver to the patent users for using them in a parallel, coordinated way. As a result the iPerFedPat system will be able to provide a rich, personalised information seeking experience for different types of patent search types, potentially exploiting techniques from diverse areas such as distributed information retrieval, machine learning  and human-computer interaction.

Important: iPerFedPat is a Java application which uses the JavaFX therefore to run it without problem you need (if you don't already have it installed) the latest JDK which can be downloaded from here.

You can use the system as a visitor (default credentials) but some functionalities (e.g. query history, personal library) are enabled only when you login with an account.

To create your own account to use iPerfFedPat you must register first using this form. Registration will give you access to additional feautures such as Personal Library, saving your search history.

iPerFedPat currently supports (in addition to the data sources already supported by eZDL) the following patent data resources and services:

  2. Google Patents
  3. MAREC/CLEF-IP
  4. PatentScope
  5. EPO classification search
  6. Multilayer classification search
